Unless there is a parallel discussion about changing the political system in NL this whole inquiry is a waste of time. This spend spend spend on fruitless projects and programs has happened to often for too long in Newfoundland.
You are correct about needing a parallel discussion about the political dysfunction. The checks and balances are non existent and as MF shows an egotistical megalomaniac can overwhelm a disempowered population, a cowed civil service, and a weak opposition.

Hey, that’s no way to talk about a nun.
And once upon a time it was disrespectful to talk negatively about priests and ministers of the cloth………until the we learned of pedeaphile priests.
I still ask her qualifications for this debate. Perhaps because she was or is a nun her record, in her health care system, has not been subject to much questioning.
